1 dead in rollover crash near Sutton

A man is dead after a car crash early Saturday morning near Sutton, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers and other emergency personnel responded to the crash at Mile 70 Glenn Highway around 2:08 a.m.

A 2005 GMC Yukon was southbound on the Glenn Highway when it "left the roadway," troopers said, and the vehicle "became airborne before hitting the ground and rolling multiple times before stopping."

A 54-year-old man was unrestrained and asleep in the back of the car, and was ejected. The vehicle landed on top of him, pinning him, and he was later found to be dead, troopers said.

The driver, 20-year-old Jacob Kincaid, was wearing his seat belt, troopers said. He was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

Troopers are investigating. In a brief online report, they did not identify the man who died.
