Parks Highway reopens after crash near Houston injures 3

Part of the Parks Highway was closed for more than an hour Wednesday morning after a crash near Houston injured three people, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said the multiple-vehicle crash, at Mile 60 near the Parks' intersection with Zero Lake Road, was first reported to troopers at 8:40 a.m.

One person was flown from the scene, Peters said, and two were taken from the crash site by ground ambulance. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately clear.

Peters said that the highway was reopened by 10:30 a.m. Although the wreck remains under investigation, emergency responders encountered cold and slick conditions at the crash site.

"The roads are not good right now because of the weather, and people really should not become complacent just because they drive on them every day," Peters said.
