Passenger ejected from SUV in one vehicle crash on Talkeetna road

A 23-year-old Wasilla driver and his passenger were injured when their SUV flipped on the Talkeetna Spur road early Sunday morning, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Logan Nichols was driving west on the spur road when he "lost control" of his 1997 Ford Explorer, troopers said in an online dispatch Sunday. The vehicle flipped and ended up in a ditch.

The passenger was thrown from the vehicle "sustaining serious injuries," troopers said. The injured person was medevaced from the scene.

The AST did not identify the passenger.

Nichols was taken from the scene by an ambulance.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash. The driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts, troopers said.
