Man dies after being struck by car near Palmer

A man died late Friday night after being hit by a car at the intersection of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and Creekwood Park Circle near Palmer, Alaska State Troopers said in an online dispatch.

The man, whose name has not been released, was wearing dark clothing when he was struck just before 11 p.m, the troopers said. Emergency medical responders declared the man dead at the scene, and investigators are now working to locate his family.

Detectives are investigating what caused the collision, but alcohol isn’t suspected to be a factor, troopers said. The driver who struck the man remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
