Wasilla woman dies in single-car crash

A 25-year-old woman died early Sunday in Wasilla after her car went into a ditch and hit a tree, said Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers said Linda Reinert, of Wasilla, was driving a Chevy Malibu eastbound on Bogard Road, and negotiating around a left-hand curve, near Catalina Drive, when she lost control of her car. She overcorrected and her car went into a ditch, hit a tree and rolled onto its side, said Ken Marsh, troopers spokesman

Reinert was the only person in the car, Marsh said. According to troopers, she wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers responded to a report of the crash at 5:04 a.m. Sunday. Reinert was declared dead at the scene, troopers said.

Marsh said he didn’t have additional information Monday about what led Reinert to lose control of her car early Sunday.
