A bicyclist was killed Friday evening after he apparently collided with an SUV at a Wasilla intersection, troopers said.

Alaska State Troopers responded to the collision at Vine Road and Raspberry Loop around 6:42 p.m. to find a rider with “significant injuries,” according to a statement.

The man had evidently collided with a red Jeep SUV driven by 41-year-old Chris A. Anderson of Wasilla, troopers said. The exact circumstances of the collision were not immediately known.

Troopers performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived, but he was declared dead just after 7 p.m., troopers said.

The state medical examiner took possession of the rider’s body. His name won’t be released until his family is notified.

Anderson was arrested on an existing warrant for failure to comply with the conditions of his probation, troopers said. His original charges were violating a domestic violence protective order and violating conditions of release.

He was held at Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $100 bail, troopers said.

“Investigation into the collision continues,” troopers said. "The Palmer DAO will be consulted at the conclusion of the investigation in reference to any charges. "
