Wasilla hunter missing for a week found dead after apparent ATV accident

A Wasilla man who went missing last week while hunting sheep in the Eureka area was found dead Wednesday from what Alaska State Troopers believe was an ATV accident.

Huey Farrell, 42, was reported missing by his family on Sunday, four days after he’d left to go hunting, troopers said in a public message.

“It was reported that it was unlike Huey to not check in by cellphone or InReach device,” troopers said.

Wildlife troopers found Farrell’s pickup at a parking area near Mile 123.5 of the Glenn Highway. The four-wheeler he’d brought with him was missing.

After several days of air and ground searches, wildlife troopers and four of Farrell’s friends who were searching the area found him dead from what troopers called “an apparent ATV accident.”

Foul play is not suspected, troopers said.
