Man dies in Wasilla rollover crash; another passenger critically injured

A Wasilla man died early Thursday after he was ejected from a vehicle during a rollover crash, Alaska State Troopers said.

The driver of the car is in stable condition but another passenger is in critical condition, troopers wrote in an online report.

Troopers were called to Clapp Street around 12:20 a.m., the statement said. Troopers said they believe a vehicle that was northbound on Clapp Street “at a high rate of speed exited the roadway on a curve causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.”

All three people in the vehicle were brought to a Mat-Su hospital, troopers said.

Jeffrey Byers, 46, died at the hospital, troopers said. The other passenger is now being treated at an Anchorage hospital, troopers said.

The investigation is ongoing.
