Driver killed in head-on collision on Palmer-Wasilla Highway

A head-on collision in Wasilla left one man dead and closed all lanes of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway for two hours on Friday evening, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers and the Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to the Palmer-Wasilla Highway and North Bobby Day Circle around 5:30 p.m. regarding a head-on collision, troopers wrote in an online report. A Chrysler sedan heading east had crossed the center line and struck a Toyota minivan, troopers said.

The Chrysler’s driver, who troopers identified as Christopher Manacher, age 71 of Wasilla, was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead, according to troopers.
