Motorcyclist killed in collision at Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Wasilla

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision Tuesday afternoon at a busy Wasilla intersection, police say.

The motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in the crash, which closed the eastbound Palmer-Wasilla Highway at the Parks Highway for close to three hours, Wasilla Police Department spokeswoman Amanda Graham said.

Officers diverted traffic through parking lots at Fred Meyer and Target but drivers were asked to find an alternate route if possible and use caution if diverting through the commercial parking lots.

Wasilla police said in an online update that the highway had reopened by 5:30 p.m.

Police were not identifying the person who died, pending notification of next of kin.

Graham said in an email that there would not be any further updates about the crash Tuesday.
