Wasilla man dies in rollover crash on Knik Goose Bay Road

A 23-year-old man died Sunday when his SUV rolled on Knik Goose Bay Road near Wasilla, Alaska State Troopers said.

Jack Duran was northbound in his white 1994 Chevrolet Suburban when he failed to negotiate a curve at Mile 9, according to troopers. The SUV left the road and rolled before stopping against a tree, troopers said.

Duran, the only person in the vehicle, died at the scene, according to troopers.

Wasilla police, troopers and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene after the wreck was reported around 5 a.m.

Notoriously dangerous Knik Goose Bay Road has had high numbers of deadly crashes for years. A multiyear construction project started this summer will expand the highway.
