Palmer woman dies in collision on Old Glenn Highway

A Palmer woman died in a two-car head-on crash Saturday on the Old Glenn Highway in Palmer, troopers say.

Alaska State Troopers responded at about 7:45 p.m. to a report of a collision at the intersection of the North Old Glenn Highway and East Clark-Wolverine Road in Palmer, according to the troopers’ report.

An 18-year-old Palmer man was driving a red 1996 Toyota SUV northbound on the Old Glenn Highway, the report said. A Palmer woman, Denise Duncan, 49, was driving a blue 2015 Nissan Versa southbound and attempted to turn left onto East Clark-Wolverine Road. Duncan didn’t yield to the Toyota driver, which resulted in a head-on collision, troopers said.

Duncan, who was driving the Nissan, died at the scene, the report said. The Toyota driver, not immediately named by the troopers, sustained minor injuries.

Neither of the drivers had passengers in their cars. Impairment was not suspected, the troopers said.

The Old Glenn Highway was closed for about 30 minutes after the crash.
