The Parks Highway was closed near Byers Lake for several hours on Tuesday due to a collision involving military vehicles, Alaska State Troopers said.
Two trucks that were part of a military convoy slid on the icy roadway and became pinned by the guardrails near Mile 136, troopers spokesman Tim DeSpain said. There were no injuries reported and no civilian vehicles were involved in the collision, said U.S. Army Alaska spokesman John Pennell.
The highway was closed for several hours as crews cleared the trucks from the roadway. Troopers reopened the highway by Tuesday evening, DeSpain said later in the day.
The highway was reported to be icy in the area with packed snow, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Pennell said.
