Flags fly at half-staff in honor of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. David Brabander

The United States and Alaska flags fly at half-staff in honor of U.S. Army Staff Sgt. David Brabander, 24, of Wasilla at the Anchorage Veterans Memorial on Wednesday. Brabander died Dec. 11 while deployed in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, when his vehicle overturned in a combat zone. Brabander was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
