59-year-old snowmachiner killed in collision with semi on Tok Cutoff

A snowmachiner was killed Friday afternoon on the Tok Cutoff after being struck by a semi truck, the Alaska State Troopers said.

The troopers said the semi was traveling northbound near Mile 34, about 50 miles northeast of Glennallen, when it struck Robin Purvis, 59, sometime before 4:38 p.m. Efforts to resuscitate the snowmachiner failed, troopers said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear. The semi driver was not injured.

The snowmachiner’s remains will be transported to the state Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy while the troopers work to notify the victim’s family.
