Photos: 2014 Governor's Picnic

The annual Governor's Picnic took place in Anchorage on Saturday, with thousands of people enjoying hamburgers and hotdogs served by Alaska Governor Sean Parnell himself.

As people received their food, many stopped to take selfies with the governor, who happily obliged. In addition to the free food, many government agencies were on hand with free displays, handouts and hands-on activities for the kids.

The Alaska National Guard brought a mobile climbing wall, and the FBI had a metal detector with which kids were able to search for bullets hidden in a pile of dirt.

The governor will continue his picnic tour around the state with events in Fairbanks on Sunday, July 20, Juneau on July 23, and Ketchikan on July 24. For more information visit picnic.alaska.gov.
