Blowing snow, poor visibility forecast for Portage Valley and east Turnagain Arm Monday

The National Weather Service is warning of blowing snow and poor driving conditions through Portage Valley and east Turnagain Arm on Monday.

"Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute Monday," the agency wrote in a bulletin Sunday evening. The weather advisory for snow and blowing snow is in effect for communities including Girdwood, Whittier, Seward and Moose Pass from midnight to 4 p.m. Monday.

The agency warns that blowing snow, with winds gusting as high as 30 mph, could reduce visibility in some areas to a half mile or less and forecasts 3 to 5 inches of snow, with up to 8 inches in some places.
