It's a grab bag of some clouds, some sun and possibly a few rain showers for much of Southcentral Alaska over the three-day Memorial Day weekend, including in Anchorage, according to the National Weather Service.

"I wouldn't call this a rainy weekend," said Dave Kochevar, a National Weather Service meteorologist. "We're expecting it to be a little nicer than what we've had the past month."

Kochevar said he expects any rain in the Anchorage Bowl to most likely fall in the mountains. Broadly, the chances of rain aren't very high across the area.

"It's a 20, 30 or 40 percent chance of rain," he said. "This time of year, that's not a washout by any means."

Here's a quick roundup of weather forecasts for the holiday weekend for Anchorage and other Southcentral communities:

Anchorage: Mostly cloudy Friday night and Saturday with a high temperature around 58 degrees and a low around 45 degrees. Partly sunny Sunday with a 30 percent chance of rain later in the day and similar temperatures. The forecast calls for partly sunny skies Monday with a high around 60 degrees.

Homer: Scattered showers Friday night and into Saturday with a high near 52 degrees and a low around 40. Mostly cloudy skies Sunday, opening up to sun Monday with a high near 55 degrees.

Palmer: Isolated showers Friday night and Saturday with highs around 59 degrees. Partly sunny Sunday and a 30 percent chance of rain showers after 2 p.m. That chance of rain holds through Monday morning, leaving mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon.

Seward: Rain showers likely Friday night. On Saturday, a 40 percent chance of rain forecast until 1 p.m., the wet weather giving way to clouds later in the day with a high near 50 degrees. There's a 30 percent chance of rain Sunday and Monday.
