Anchorage residents woke up to the first big snow of the season on Thursday morning.

Starting Wednesday, the storm dumped up to 9 inches of snow across the Anchorage Bowl, and far more in parts of the Kenai Peninsula. Anchorage schools closed on Thursday and the snow caused dozens of accidents across the city. About 5 inches of fresh snow fell in Palmer and Wasilla, too.
