The Alaska Bar Association along with the Alaska Court System and the Alaska Legal Services Corporation will host a free legal clinic on Monday in honor of the late Martin Luther King Jr. in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau.
Free legal consultations and referrals in family law, landlord/tenant and public benefits will be available to the attendees on a first-come, first- served basis. This is the Alaska Bar Association's fourth year hosting the MLK Day event.
"The Alaska Bar Association has followed the national lead of making this a 'day on, not a day off' as a powerful way of building community and providing service," Krista Scully, pro bono director of the Alaska Bar Association, said in press release. "
In Anchorage the event will be noon-6 p.m. at the Mountain View Boys & Girls Club, 315 Price St. In Fairbanks, it's 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Rabinowitz Courthouse, 101 Lacey St. In Juneau, the event will take place at two locations. The first, Aldersgate Methodist Church, 9161 Cinema Dr., runs 9 a.m.-noon. The second, at the Dimond Courthouse (123 Fourth St.) is 1-4 p.m.
