APD: 2 South Anchorage armed robberies in 10 days

Anchorage police say they are investigating the second armed robbery in just over a week in South Anchorage.

A 911 call came in just after midnight Monday reporting the robbery in the 12000 block of Brandon Street, according to a release from police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro. Brandon Street is off Old Seward Highway, south of Huffman Road.

Police are reporting no major injuries. No suspects were in custody as of early Monday.

Police believe there were multiple suspects involved in the robbery, Castro said in an email.

The reported robbery marks the second since March 8 in South Anchorage. In the previous incident, six men held a woman and her teenage son at gunpoint while they robbed the family's home on Tulin Park Loop, off Lake Otis Parkway. Police at the time said they believed that robbery was drug-related.

Police are investigating to determine if the two robberies could be related but hadn't made a determination as of Monday morning, Castro said.
