Boy, 10, critically injured after fall from moving car in Midtown Anchorage

Anchorage police say a young boy was critically injured in an accident involving a vehicle in East Anchorage Sunday afternoon.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell said officers and medics were called to the 6000 block of East 22nd Avenue, near Nunaka Valley, just before 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

"Upon arrival they found a 10-year-old boy with a head injury which he sustained after either jumping or falling from the outside of a moving vehicle," Shell wrote. "The boy was transported by medics to a local hospital where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition."

Shell said the incident remains under investigation, with no additional details immediately available Sunday night.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the location of the incident. It happened on the 6000 block of East 22nd Avenue, not the 600 block.
