A man died after being hit by a car Sunday evening in the Anchorage neighborhood of Fairview, Anchorage police said.
Police and medics responded to the crash shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, initially closing down the intersection of 15th Avenue and Ingra Street and rerouting traffic around the scene of the accident. The closure eventually extended along 15th Avenue from Karluk Street to Ingra Street.
According to police spokeswoman Anita Shell, the man was taken to a hospital with critical injuries; he died a short time later. On Monday morning, APD identified the man as 60-year-old Edmund Kenneth Onalik.
