Troopers investigate theft, burglary in Selawik

Alaska State Troopers received on July 27 a report from Selawik of theft through an internet scam, according to the troopers’ report.

“An adult male paid an unknown individual online for a used ATV,” troopers’ spokesperson Austin McDaniel said. “The ATV was never delivered to the adult male, and it is believed that the suspect is not in Alaska.”

The investigation into the theft by deception is ongoing, McDaniel said.

Troopers also received a report of a burglary in Selawik on July 29 at about 2:30 p.m., troopers’ report said.

“An adult male in Selawik reported that approximately $850 in items were stolen from his residence while he was not home,” McDaniel said.

The investigation is ongoing.

In Noatak, troopers received a report on July 29 at about 9:30 p.m. about damage to a vehicle that was estimated at less than $1,000, McDaniel said.
