Bethel newspaper still seeking accounts of 'Hairy Man' sightings

Bethel's Delta Discovery has been collecting and publishing -- without a hint of skepticism or sarcasm -- area residents' accounts, mostly anonymous, of sightings of Hairy Man, a legendary rural Alaska version of Sasquatch or Bigfoot. The latest: apparent adult and youngster (cub?) Hairy Things seen from an airplane. " 'They were running really fast,' the passenger said. The pilot then turned the plane toward the running creatures and just as they buzzed or flew over them, the animals jumped into the ring of meltwater around the lake." Link to all six (so far) Hairy Man stories here and the paper's overview of its series, which includes some historical background, here. If you're a skeptic, you won't be swayed by these tales, but they're entertaining.
