Delta flight makes medical emergency landing in Anchorage

A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Los Angeles from Tokyo's Narita International Airport made an unscheduled landing in Anchorage early Wednesday morning after a passenger suffered a medical emergency, according to a statement from the airline.

The crew elected to divert Delta flight 284 to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport "in response to a customer medical situation on board," Delta wrote. "The flight landed without incident and paramedics met the aircraft on arrival."

Information of the nature of the emergency, or the status of the affected passenger wasn't immediately available Wednesday morning.

The Boeing 777-200LR had 291 passengers on board, as well as 14 crew members.

The flight departed Anchorage at 6:15 a.m. and continued on to Los Angeles, Delta said, less than two hours behind schedule.
