State announces regulations for Southeast Alaska kings

JUNEAU -- King salmon sportfishing regulations for much of Southeast Alaska this summer will mirror those of 2014.

In a press release, the state Department of Fish and Game said that for most of the region, residents can keep up to three kings per day, while nonresidents can keep six per year. Two per day will be allowed in May and June and one per day in other months.

However, anglers in marine waters near Ketchikan will have lower limits to ensure enough salmon return to the Unuk River to spawn.

The limits in marine waters near Petersburg and Wrangell will be more liberal, due to a strong run expected on the Stikine River.
