Hausinger brothers highlight Phase 2 of USHL Draft

Brothers Kenny and Christian Hausinger of Anchorage, both ticketed for Sacred Heart eventually, were among the top Alaska-connected picks Tuesday in Phase 2 of the USHL draft.

Kenny, a center, went third overall to Des Moines after finishing fourth in NAHL scoring with 25-43--68 totals in 57 games with Odessa. He's 19. Christian, 18, a defenseman, went 32nd overall, in the second round, to Lincoln. In Phase 1 of the draft Monday -- that's when players with 1999 birth years were selected, Kenny and Christian's younger brother, Cameron, a winger, went seventh overall to Chicago.

Here are the Alaska-connected players who were picked in Phase 2 of the draft:

Round 1, 3rd overall -- Kenny Hausinger, Anchorage, C, to Des Moines. He went 25-43--68 in 57 games with NAHL Odessa.

Round 1, 8th overall -- Fairbanks Ice Dogs F Ethan Somoza, to Bloomington, He was 30-35--65 and +31 in 60 games with NAHL Fairbanks to finish sixth in league scoring.

Round 2, 32nd overall -- Christian Hausinger, Anchorage, D, to Lincoln. For NAHL Odessa last season, 7-24--31 in 59 games.

Round 5, 80th overall -- Fairbanks Ice Dogs F Todd Burgess, to Sioux City. Went 15-21--36 in 46 for Ice Dogs.

Round 6, 86th overall -- Fairbanks Ice Dogs F Rhyner Gorowsky, to Fargo. Went 13-31--44 in 57 for Ice Dogs.

Round 8, 116th overall -- Sean Harrison, Eagle River, RW, to Bloomington. Went 22-24--46 in 58 games with BCHL Cowichan Valley.

Round 8, 121st overall -- Luke Millen, Anchorage, F, to Madison. Played for Colorado Rampage.

Round 11, 175th overall -- Nolan Walker, Anchorage, C, to Dubuque. Played at Culver Military Academy.
