Police: Anchorage shooting may be drug-related

Anchorage police responded to a shooting in the neighborhood of Mountain View on Monday night, the second reported in about a week.

Like last week's incident, the victim and shooter appeared to have known each other, said Anchorage Police Department communications director Jennifer Castro.

Drugs may be a factor in the shooting, Castro said. No suspects had been taken into custody as of Tuesday afternoon, she said.

Police were called to an apartment building on the 400 block of North Bragaw Street around 5 p.m. Monday.

Several men had entered another man's apartment and shot him. The man was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Castro said.

Police are calling the shooting a "targeted, isolated" incident.

The victim and witnesses haven't been cooperating with police, Castro said.
