Glenn Highway reopens after 2 drivers injured in Valley collision

A two-vehicle collision at the Glenn and Parks highway intersection early Tuesday required a medevac for one driver and closed the Glenn Highway for 30 minutes, troopers said.

At about 7:45 a.m., an Audi that had been traveling eastbound on the Parks Highway was turning left to head northbound on the Glenn Highway when it was struck on the driver's side by a Lincoln MKZ headed south on the Glenn Highway, Alaska State Trooper spokesperson Beth Ipsen said.

The driver of the Audi was identified in a dispatch posted online Tuesday afternoon as 20-year-old Lane Styers of Big Lake. The driver of the Lincoln was identified as 56-year-old Mark Sielaff of Palmer. The dispatch said Styers failed to yield as he pulled out onto the highway.

Neither vehicle had any other occupants.

The Glenn Highway was closed for 30 minutes to make room for a helicopter to land to transport Styers to an Anchorage hospital. Trooper said he was in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.

Sielaff was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for what troopers described as "possible minor injuries."
