Park service birthday means free entry in national parks Tuesday

The National Park Service is celebrating its 99th birthday today, Aug. 25, by waiving entrance fees at all national parks, including those in Alaska.

There are eight national parks in Alaska. One of the most popular, Denali National Park and Preserve, usually charges $10 per adult for access to its wild lands, but will waive the fee on Tuesday.

Other remaining free entrance days for national parks this year are Sept. 26 (National Public Lands Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day.)
