UAA sharp-shooter McGill is GNAC men's hoops Player of the Week

UAA senior guard Brian McGill, coming off consecutive performances in which he scored more than 30 points and was perfect from the free-throw line, on Monday was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's men's basketball Player of the Week for the third time in his career.

McGill delivered a career-high 34 points Saturday in an 86-66 GNAC win at Simon Fraser and 31 points in Thursday's 108-105 double-overtime league win at Western Washington.

McGill made all 11 of his free throws against Simon Fraser and a school-record 15 of 15 against Western Washington. He is averaging 17.9 points per game.

Against Western Washington, McGill did not commit a turnover in his 47 minutes of playing time.

UAA (18-7, 11-3 GNAC) sits second in the 11-team conference and is in the midst of four games in eight days.

The Seawolves on Tuesday visit Montana State-Billings (8-14, 5-9 GNAC) and Thursday entertain UAF (16-6, 10-4 GNAC) at the Alaska Airlines Center.
