Wasilla woman and fugitive suspected of abducting her show up at police station

The search for a man suspected of kidnapping a woman Saturday morning has ended, with authorities saying the two went to the Mat-Su West state troopers post sometime during the day.

"It's good news," said Megan Peters, troopers spokeswoman, Saturday evening.

"I don't have the circumstances or details," she said. "I don't know the charges. I know they are both alive and no one is on the brink of death."

"Both Robb and King were transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. Investigation is ongoing," a troopers report issued Saturday evening said.

Police had asked for help Saturday morning, saying they were looking for a "dangerous" suspect, 23-year-old Jordan King, and 40-year-old Shawna Robb, whose life was likely in danger.

King had been arrested in December after troopers said he broke into a woman's house, pistol-whipped her and tried to rape and kidnap her.

That woman was Robb, said her father, Howard Robb. He said the two met while working together at Denali Family Restaurant in Wasilla, where she is a manager and he had worked as a cook. He said they were not romantically involved.

King was out of jail after posting bail, fled the supervision of his third-party custodian, on Saturday, troopers said. Court records show King faces felony charges that include first-degree burglary with a firearm, second-degree assault and failure to stop for police.

A restraining order had been issued to help protect his daughter, Howard Robb said.

But it didn't work.

"When she got ready to go to work this morning, he was waiting for her outside," Robb said.

His 17-year-old granddaughter -- Shawna's niece -- had fortunately spent the night with her aunt. She looked out the window after hearing Shawna scream, Robb said.

"She looked out the window and saw her struggling," Robb said. "She hid in a closet and called 911."

"It's a good thing she was there," Robb said. "If not, we wouldn't have known about it for hours."

Correction: An earlier version of this story said King faced five charges, including kidnapping. That charge was dismissed by prosecutors in December.
