Two Fairbanks residents injured, 1 seriously, in dirt bike crash

Two people riding a dirt bike in Fairbanks were injured when they crashed into a car at an intersection, sending the bike's passenger to the hospital with serious injuries.

Fairbanks police reported that local residents Clayton Nelson, 22, and Lakeisha Nollner-Albert, 20, weren't wearing helmets when they were thrown from the motorcycle. Nollner-Albert, the passenger, "sustained serious incapacitating injuries," police said.

Nelson, who was driving the dirt bike, suffered a leg injury, they said.

Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Cowles Street and 21st Avenue shortly before 2:30 Wednesday. The driver of the car was not injured.

"The driver of the Subaru reportedly stopped for a stop sign at the intersection, looked both directions and upon pulling into the roadway collided with the Honda dirt bike," Fairbanks police said.

The roadway was blocked off while officers investigated. Police are asking anyone who saw the crash to call the Fairbanks Police Department at 907-450-6500.
