Peters Creek teen charged with gas station robbery

A 19-year-old from Peters Creek faces two criminal charges following the alleged armed robbery of a Parks Highway gas station, according to Alaska State Troopers.

On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., troopers responded to the Holiday Gas Station at Mile 49 of the highway. Their investigation found a man entered the store wearing a gas mask and brandishing a firearm. The alleged robber, identified as Miguel Gil, demanded money from the teller, troopers said.

When Gil fled the store, "a citizen that witnessed the robbery discharged several shots from a handgun," according to an online dispatch posted Monday.

Both Gil and the unidentified shooter left the area, the dispatch says.

Officers arrested Gil Monday at his home. He was taken to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded on charges of first-degree robbery and third-degree assault. Bail was set at $10,000 and court-approved third party custodian.
