Alaska towns up for $25K 'Ultimate Fishing Town USA' prize

Alaska Beat has no idea how any town outside the Great Land has a chance of being named World Fishing Network's "Ultimate Fishing Town USA," but the website is having an online voting contest anyway. So far, several Alaska towns have been nominated: Naknek, Kodiak, Homer, Seward, Soldotna, Anchorage, Whittier, Wrangell, Craig and Ketchikan. Online voting in the first round starts Tuesday, April 12, and you can vote up to four times per email address per day to determine the 20 towns that will advance to the final round, set to begin May 10. The overall winner will receive a $25,000 community donation from WFN. Read the main contest page, here.
