What's going on in Anchorage this week: Breakdancers, fat tire bikes, holiday lights

Rice pounding festival

Anchorage International Film Festival

Check out some of the best features, documentaries, animation, shorts and, of course, the Made In Alaska category at one of Alaska's best film festivals. 7 p.m. Friday continuing daily through Dec. 11 at Bear Tooth Theatrepub and other venues. Fat Bike demo day

Ever been interested in riding a fat-tire bike? Try out the demo fleet at Westchester Lagoon at this event hosted by The Bicycle Shop and Paramount Cycles. Bright up the Night at the Alaska State Fair grounds

One select days from Dec. 2-25, the Alaska fair grounds turns into a dazzling winter display. The topiaries, as well as many of the fair buildings, are being transformed with white and colored lights. The Many Faces and Voices of Muslims at UAA

Muslim students studying a variety of disciplines at UAA come together to discuss their life and convictions. Students include Sajid Raza (graduate student in civil engineering), Salman Jama (anthropology), Bin Shabaan Jones (elementary education), Nasteha Abdi (accounting), Rabia Hatch (legal studies).
