The Shins will perform in Anchorage in June

The Shins will perform in Anchorage this summer, Moose's Tooth announced Wednesday.

The indie rock band will play an "Almost to Solstice" show at Moose's Tooth on Saturday, June 10. The outdoor solstice concert is typically one of Moose's Tooth's biggest of the year; in previous years the venue has brought up Primus, Modest Mouse and Wu-Tang Clan.

The Shins first rose to popularity with the 2001 release of their debut album, "Oh, Inverted World." The album broke through to mainstream audiences when two songs — "Caring is Creepy" and "New Slang" — were featured prominently in the 2004 film "Garden State." The album "Wincing The Night Away" was nominated for the Grammy for best alternative album in 2008. The band released its fifth studio album, "Heartworms," earlier this month.

Tickets are $55 and go on sale Friday. The show will be 6-10 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Moose's Tooth, 3300 Old Seward Highway. See beartooththeatre.net for details.
