What's happening in Anchorage this week: Transformed Treasures, free comic books, bike blessing

Free Comic Book Day

In partnership with Bosco's, the library will offer child-friendly, all-ages comics for free. Get some comics and join in this national celebration. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, all public libraries in Anchorage and Eagle River. (907-343-2841, anchoragelibrary.org; boscos.com)

Transformed Treasures luncheon

Local creative folks have transformed secondhand goods into beautiful artwork, furniture, jewelry, picture frames and more as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army. The program for this luncheon includes live and silent auctions and video testimonies featuring those who have been helped by the Salvation Army. 24-Hour Film Royal Screening & Award Ceremony 2017

Check out what Alaska filmmakers were able to make in the span of just 24 hours at this annual competition. Audience members get to choose one of the winning teams. Cajun dance party

Dance and party to the tunes of Weasel Gras, who will play Cajun two-steps, jitterbugs, waltzes, a few zydecos, and a surprise or two. The Red Chair will be serving beer, wine and snacks. Comedy Hypnosis Show

You've probably heard stories about people clucking like chickens or other strange things under hypnosis… according to show organizers, this is your opportunities to see it for yourself in action. Bike Blessing Afterparty  

Summer season is upon us and that means it's time to bless the bikes. The blessing starts at 10 a.m. at the Delaney Park Strip. Then, at 1 p.m. the House of Harley-Davidson will have a party with food, a beer garden, demonstrations, live music and opportunities to win prizes. Arctic Entries: Season Eight

This storytelling event brings seven locals to the stage to share personal and true stories of all kinds. Each story is seven minutes long and relates to a theme. GNBC Brew-A-Thon/National Homebrew Day

Gather with homebrewers to taste, learn and brew. The event will be an outdoors potluck with few options for seating (bringing your own camp chairs is encouraged). Brewers who want to bring their equipment and brew a batch are welcome.
