Hot Picks: A masquerade, classic anime and disco fever

Anchorage Pride continues on Friday and Saturday with drag shows at Mad Myrna's, a live underwear auction, the Pride parade and PrideFestival, which includes live entertainment, a beer garden, more than 130 vendors and Bob the Drag Queen from "RuPaul's Drag Race." Thursday Night Live: The Dirty Hands

Girdwood-based band The Dirty Hands describes its sound on Facebook as "Post-Americana Grunge Blues with a side of pork chops." The Get Up Get Down

Join the masquerade at this surreal post-solstice dance party. Attendees are asked to don a mask made by a local artist and wear their weirdest and/or most stylish summer clothes. Masks will be provided and there will be live music from acts including rapper Jimmy Kim and Fairbanks electronica artist Gardenss. Note that the event will be photographed. The images will be used as references for a piece of art immortalizing the party. The result will be on display at August's First Friday at Anchorage Community Works. 21-and-up event. $10. My Neighbor Totoro 

Two young girls go on adventures with gigantic, gentle bear-like forest spirits in Hayao Miyazaki's beloved 1988 animated masterpiece "My Neighbor Totoro." One of the film's fantastical characters is Catbus, a cat that is also a bus. "Totoro" will be dubbed in English on Sunday and subtitled on Monday. 12:55 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday, Century 16 and Regal Tikahtnu Stadium in Anchorage and Regal Goldstream Stadium in Fairbanks.

Emma Hill & Bryan Daste with Small Souls
