What’s happening this week around Anchorage: Maggie Rogers, derby girls and new music from Evan Phillips

Maggie Rogers

Maggie Rogers rose to internet fame when a video of Pharrell Williams' emotional reaction to her song "Alaska" went viral. To date, the track has been streamed over 44 million times on Spotify. For her Anchorage show she'll be joined by local talent Ava Earl, who recently became the youngest musician to play the Salmonfest main stage. $25 in advance, $30 at the door for UAA students; $35 in advance, $40 at the door for general public. Evan Phillips CD release

Anchorage musician and producer Evan Phillips returns to the stage with a new solo album, "Lonely Mountain." The album is a collection of songs that span the length of Phillips' career. The special unplugged and acoustic set will be an intimate, seated listening show. Only 100 tickets available. $15. 7:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Friday, Church of Love Spenard, 3502 Spenard Rd. Rage City Rollergirls Orange Crush vs. Boom Town Derby Dames

Rage City Rollergirls are hosting their second bout of the season, facing off against Palmer's Boom Town Derby Dames. Boom Town will play Orange Crush, Rage City's team of up-and-coming skaters. Beer, wine and food will be available for purchase and MCs will be handing out prizes all night. Active duty and veteran military service members get in free with ID. The fall Anchorage Rock and Mineral Show features dozens of local vendors selling rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry and other crafts made from natural materials. Rex Navarrete

A Filipino-American stand-up comedian best known for his unique brand of comedy, Rex Navarrete will be in town Friday to give you a laugh. Navarette got his start in Santa Cruz in 1989 and has since shared the stage with George Lopez, DL Hughley and Paul Mooney.
