St. Stephen's Day Ceili

There will be two events celebrating St. Stephen's Day, observed the day after Christmas, in downtown Anchorage this year. There will be a free event with Irish music and dancing from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Williwaw. No partner or experience is needed; dance callers will be on hand to teach each dance. Another ceili will be hosted by Irish Dance Academy and the Northern Lights Celtic Dancers at McGinley's Pub (645 G St.) from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Closing: 'Our Friends, The Enemy'

The final performance of Cyrano's current play comes just one day before Christmas. "Our Friends, The Enemy" is based on the true story of the 1914 Christmas Truce during World War I, when British and German soldiers stopped fighting from the trenches to celebrate the holiday together. Shani Friedman wrote in Huffington Post, "the brutalities of war, and the power of brotherhood and the Christmas spirit to achieve peace, are given vivid life in this moving show." $23-$25. Runs through Sunday; Saturday showing sold out. Cyrano's Theatre Company, 3800 DeBarr Road. (centertix.net)
