New Year's Eve is quickly approaching, but there's plenty of fun to be had the other days of the week. Here are our picks.

The Modern Savage with Medium Build

Local favorite The Modern Savage is back for its first show in Anchorage since May. Joining the grunge-pop band will be four-piece band on the rise – Medium Build. Winter Wonderland Ball

Snowflakes are falling and so is the temperature: It is truly winter in Alaska. Keep warm with your dancing feet while Silver Train plays live music all night. Hosted by the Dancing Bears, this contra dancing event is for dancers of all skill levels. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. AK Comics Presents: Holiday Hangover Show

Get away from all your relatives and shake off the holiday hangover with laughs provided by some of Alaska's funniest comedians. The AK Comics annual holiday variety show will feature local comedians Matt Collins, Matt Burgoon, Kass Smiley, Matt Jardin, James Enberg, John Norris, Chris Coleman and Justin Lawrence Hoyt. The Snow Ball

The House of ADA is an organization based in Oregon that has been putting on voguing balls since 2014. Voguing is a style of modern house dance that originated in Harlem and gained international recognition with Madonna's 1990 hit, "Vogue." Head down to ACW to experience the dance phenomenon for yourself. Jose from Brooke & Jubal in the Morning

Jose Bolanos is an energetic on-air radio personality with a contagious laugh from the nationally syndicated and award-winning radio show "Brooke and Jubal in the Morning."
