Here’s what’s happening in Anchorage for Cinco de Mayo

Dia Del Sol

The Anchorage Museum is celebrating Mexican culture this weekend with Dia del Sol, a three-day event with activities for the whole family. Stop by on Friday for an artist talk with Mexican-born painter Ana Teresa Fernandez (6 p.m.). There will be a Mexican film festival on Saturday at 11 a.m. featuring a variety of animated Spanish-language short films, as well as live music from local mariachi band Mariachi Agave Azul at noon. Be sure not to miss the pinata-making class (2 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday) taught by The Pinata Shop's Carolina Vidal. 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Anchorage Museum, 625 C St. (anchoragemuseum.org)  

Adventure de Mayo

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Showdown Alaska is bringing another headliner to Anchorage. Enjoy tacos and margaritas as you rock out to Adventure Club, an EDM duo that's taken over music festivals worldwide. Hailing from Canada, Adventure Club released their debut album "Red //Blue" in 2016 and has since had their tracks featured on MTV's "Teen Wolf" and "Eye Candy." 21 and over. $45-$115. 7 p.m. Saturday, Williwaw, 609 F St. (eventbrite.com)

Cinco de Food Truck Carnival

The Spenard Food Truck Carnival is making a weekend appearance. Midnight Sun 23rd Anniversary Dinner

The award-winning brewery is honoring their 23rd anniversary and Cinco de Mayo with an exclusive dinner.
