Anchorage-rooted band Termination Dust has been selected to play the South By Southwest music festival in March in Austin, Texas, according to a post from the band’s Instagram account.

The band formed in Anchorage, releasing its debut “Familiar Eyes,” in 2016. They opened for Modest Mouse later that year. That performance caught the attention of Modest Mouse lead singer Isaac Brock, who later signed Termination Dust to his label, Glacial Pace Records.

Termination Dust relocated out of Alaska last summer and spent much of the fall on tour, opening for Modest Mouse and also touring with Fairbanks-rooted band Granddad.

South By Southwest is among the nation’s biggest music festivals, spanning 10 days and hundreds of performers and presenters covering music, film and interactive technologies.
