Coming soon: Pulse Dance Company’s ‘carnival,’ blues artist Chris Smither and a ‘miscast’ night at Myrna’s

Chris Smither — Whistling Swan Productions is bringing this blues, acoustic and folk artist to Alaska for two shows. ‘Lysistrata’ — This bawdy Greek comedy was written by the ancient playwright Aristophanes and first staged in 411 B.C. It is the comic account of one woman, Lysistrata, and her mission to end the Peloponnesian War. She convinces the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands as a means of forcing the men to negotiate for peace. Pulse Dance Company in Concert — Pulse Dance Company presents its new work “Caravan” by Anchorage choreographer Stephanie Wonchala. The show immerses audiences in a world that’s part carnival, part parade. Mardi Gras Petravaganza — 10 animal rescue and adoption agencies come together for a Mardi Gras-themed event. Join the “Pup n Cuppa” for an afternoon tea and masquerade ball. There will be handmade paw keychains, treat boxes and dog treats.
