Anchorage Pridefest 2019 is here, and the celebration goes all week

Anchorage Pridefest starts this week, with events celebrating the LGBTQ+ community from June 22-29. See full details at anchoragepride.org.

Screening of “Stonewall Uprising” This documentary film examines the events surrounding the Stonewall riots of June 28, 1969. A panel of Alaskans will share their experiences about what it was like to be open about their identity in Alaska. $5-$10 suggested donation. 7-9 p.m. Friday June 21, Alaska Experience Theater, 333 W Fourth Ave. Ste. 207

Beyond the Closet 5 This event features narratives about breaking boundaries in Alaska and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Proceeds fund youth programs at Identity, Inc. Queen’s Coffeehouse Confessions Hear stories from some of your favorite ladies from Queen’s Coffeehouse Confessions. All ages are welcome. Free for those under 18. $6. 6 p.m. Saturday June 22, Uncle Leroy’s Coffee, 701 W 36th Ave.

Gender Expansive Grooming WorkshopJoin the Anchorage Transgender Community for a workshop on clothing, grooming and other needs for the transgender, non-binary and gender expansive community. Free. 12-3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, Identity, Inc. 336 E Fifth Ave.

Pride Memorial Service Remember the heroes who fought for LGBTQ+ freedoms. This event is open to all people. Free. Noon-1 p.m. Sunday, June 23, LGBT Cemetery, 535 E Ninth Ave.

Pride Worship Service and Ice Cream Social Join members in the community for this Pride-style Christian worship, which will be followed by an ice cream social. All ages are welcome to join. Free. 11:30 am.-1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 23, St. John United Methodist Church, 1801 O’Malley Road

Drag Storytime for Families Celebrate creative expression, identity and all things fun with this special storytime featuring drag performers. Queer as Hell Drag Show Keep the Pride momentum going with this drag show featuring performers like Freeza D’Lust, Dela Rosa, Golden Delicious and more. 10% of all sales go to Volunteers of America and homeless youth programs. Brick Bash Enjoy music by Lardi B followed by a performance by Thorgy Thor, a queen who has appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Afterward there will be a dance party featuring music from DJ Hottpants. This is a 21 and over event. $40-$60. 7:30 p.m.- 2 a.m. Saturday, June 29, Williwaw, 609 F St.
