Autumn activities are back: Fungus fair, fall harvest tea and moose madness

Fungus Fair — Mushroom lovers unite at the Girdwood Fungus Fair. Register for mushroom-themed talks, workshops and demos on topics including how to turn mushrooms into dye, how to cook wild mushrooms, and cultivate them at home. Participate in fungus forays: guided mushroom walks with mycologists. Mushroom merch will be available for purchase. Prices dependent on registration for events. Hogwarts & Halsey — Two themed dance parties are happening at Williwaw this week. Wizards and witches can get down to dancing at this Harry Potter themed costume party. Play quidditch beer pong and drink Hogwarts themed drinks. DJ Fan Service will enchant the dance floor, which will be decked out with Harry Potter props and decor including a sorting hat. Fall Harvest Tea — Bond with grandparents and other seniors over high tea. Enjoy finger sandwiches, scones with devonshire cream, jam, or honey, fruit and cheese platters, and of course a wide assortment of teas. Hold onto your hats and participate in the hat contest. Alaska SPCA Spay-ghetti Dinner — Meet local dogs, sip a glass of wine, and mingle with Alaska pet lovers. Enjoy spaghetti bolognese served with salad and dessert. Enter in a silent auction hosted by DJ Lefty with prizes ranging from vodka tastings to pet gift baskets. All proceeds go toward the Alaska SPCA to continue providing nonprofit veterinary and pet adoption service. The premise is simple: a young woman’s bloomers fall down at a royal parade and she soon becomes the talk of the town.
