Here are some of the best ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day around Anchorage

St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday. Celebrations will be happening all weekend, ranging from 5K races to all-day pub crawls, so there’s something for everyone. Don’t forget to wear green!

St. Patrick’s Day Concert, 6 p.m. Saturday, 49th State Brewing Company

Join the Irish Club of Alaska and 49th State Brewing Company on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. There will Irish dancers, music and Bailey’s! The event is free, but tickets are required because space is limited.

Super Saturated Sugar Strings concert, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Palmer Train Depot

Join the Super Saturated Sugar Strings and Koot’s on Thursday for a St. Patrick’s Day Concert at the Palmer Train Depot. Koot’s is bringing the bar, so the show is 21+. Tickets may sell out, so buy ahead of time! Doors open at 7 p.m. and the music starts at 7:30 p.m.

Wearin’ o’ the Green concert by Alaska Celtic Pipes and Drums, 7 p.m. Friday, Anchorage Lutheran Church

Bagpipes are almost as Irish as can be, and they will be out in full force for the Wearin’ o’ the Green concert by Alaska Celtic Pipes and Drums on Friday at 7 p.m. The concert will be at Anchorage Lutheran Church and will feature a variety of performances.

St. Patrick’s Saturday Bread Giveaway, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Turnagain Arts Building

Great Harvest Bread Company and the Irish Club of Alaska will be giving out free loaves (while supplies last!) at the Turnagain Arts Building on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Come and get your bread and listen to the live music by Philip Price and Joe Byrne.

2022 Shamrock Shuffle, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Bear Tooth Theatrepub and Grill

This annual event is back again, hosted by Bear Tooth Theatrepub and Grill and Skinny Raven Sports. The 5K race will be held both virtually and in-person. Either way, sign up ahead of time of the race on Saturday. The Bear Tooth will be offering Grab-N-Go breakfast burritos starting at 8:30 a.m. and the full menu will be available starting at 10 a.m. After the race, the party at Bear Tooth will include weighing one lucky participant in Broken Tooth beverages (not quite your weight in gold, but close.)

The 5th Annual Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Crawl, 4 p.m. Saturday, various locations

The Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Crawl on Saturday includes bars like Avenue Bar, Fat Ptarmigan, and Williwaw Social. There will be a costume contest with a $1,000 grand prize! Each bar will have specials available for members of the crawl from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. At 10 p.m., the after-party starts at Gaslight Bar. Buy tickets ahead of time, but don’t forget to check in, starting from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Avenue Bar to get your lanyard and event badge.

TIckets for a group of 4 or more are $20 per person, and individual tickets are $25.
