This weekend: Snowsports fun at Arctic Valley, a comedy festival and more happening around Anchorage

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, East Anchorage High School Auditorium

The East Anchorage High School Thunderbird Theatre presents a night (or three) of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, woven together into a “spectaculathon!” This performance will be an attempt to combine all 209 fairy tales into one cohesive fable, brought to life by two narrators and a team of actors. Tickets are $10, cash only, sold at the door.

Golden Age of Guitar, 7:30 p.m. Friday, UAA Recital Hall

The Anchorage Classical Guitar Society presents an evening concert of 19th century music. Featured composers include Giuliani, Sor, Diabelli, Haydn, Beethoven and more. Tickets range from $10 to $20.

Anchorage Symphony Orchestra’s Season Finale, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Atwood Concert Hall

Featuring Michael Brown on the piano, the Anchorage Symphony presents the Season Finale, closing out their 76th season. The event will include Boulanger’s “D’un matin de printemps,” Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G Major,” and Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique.” Tickets start at $27.50.

Merry Marmot Spring Festival, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Arctic Valley Ski Area

Arctic Valley’s Merry Marmot Spring Festival is back! There will be live music, skiing, tubing, fat tire biking events, and more. The flagship event, the Downhill Dummy Launch, involves launching a dummy on skis or a snowboard off the ski jump — just make sure to choose a “dummy” that isn’t dangerous to spectators, and don’t forget to register. Everyone will be watching from the lodge to see each dummy soar. Blue and Gold Boardshop will also be hosting the Legends of Alaska showcase and halfpipe jam. Admission is free, preregistration for bike races is open now, and all other events can be signed up for at the Arctic Valley lodge.

“Under :30, A Reprise,” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, 411 D St.

The Out North Fringe Festival continues this weekend with the “Under :30, A Reprise” performance at the D Street theater formerly known as Cyrano’s Off-Center Playhouse. M.C. MoHagani Magnetek, Allison Akootchook Warden and Angela Ramirez will perform three pieces, each under 30 minutes in an homage to Out North’s iconic 30 under 30. Tickets are $20.

Villains, 7 p.m. Sunday, Mad Myrna’s

Anchorage Cabarets presents an evening of fabulous villains at Mad Myrna’s. Tickets start at $25, but there will also be a VIP experience available, complete with a complimentary cocktail and a goody bag. Must be 21 or older to attend.

Alaska B4UDie Comedy Festival, Thursday-Sunday, times and locations vary

The Alaska B4UDie (read: “before you die”) Comedy Festival is a weeklong festival of comedy shows across the state by local and visiting comedians. Over the course of the week there will be 17 shows, featuring over 55 comedians. Shows in Anchorage include “The Laugh Frontier” on Friday at 7 p.m. at Koot’s, Rubber Ptarmigan Clean Comedy Showcase on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Writer’s Block, and “Last Gasp” on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Koot’s. Tickets are still available.
